The Police Monument in Rawalpindi stands as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of policemen who have given their lives in the line of duty. Erected at the Police Lines Headquarters Rawalpindi, this monument features eight pillars dedicated to various units of the police force, including the Rawalpindi police, City Traffic Police, Elite Force, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Dolphin Squad, Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and Khidmat Markaz. These pillars, constructed from black granite, are arranged around a central wall adorned with the Punjab police logo and Quranic verses, symbolizing unity and dedication to service.
The monument, which broke ground on August 14, 2021, under the supervision of then City Police Officer (CPO) Omer Saeed Malik, is designed to honor the memory of 114 police martyrs who have fallen since 1986. Their names, inscribed in golden letters, serve as a poignant reminder of their sacrifice. The site also displays photographs of these brave individuals alongside details of their martyrdom, providing a tangible connection to their legacy.
Upon completion, the monument will feature two poles for hoisting the national flag and the Punjab police banner, symbolizing the unity between the nation and its protectors. Open to the public without charge, it serves not only as a memorial but also as a place of reflection and remembrance for visitors.
